Accommodation and Amenities

All the cabins in Green Forest Ecolodge are a combination of wooden structures, opening up to the Amazon Rainforest. The lodge reflects the ambiance of a traditional jungle Ecuadorian house but provides the comfort and protection of a solid building.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by the friendly staff that will make you feel at home with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff is proud of their long history of satisfied visitors who have visited and returned time and again, and look forward to welcoming you to their beautiful ecolodge. The Green Forest Eco-lodge is located deep in the Cuyabeno national park, and the staff goes out of their way to provide guests with an authentic Amazon jungle experience throughout their stay.

Connoisseur Tip:

This is a new offering in the Cuyabeno National Park. If you are looking for a more upscale and Eco-Friendly experience in the Cuyabeno, this is your best bet. They are quite serious about being an eco-lodge, they use solar panels,  compost, and participate in Eco-projects for the conservation of the region. I would recommend this lodge for those looking for an immersive experience in the Amazon Rainforest as well as a little bit of comfort.

Forest Trails

There are big chances for you to see a great variety of wildlife such as insects, birds, reptiles, and mammals. Some typical animals you may spot are; anacondas, spiders, giant armadillos, birds such as hoatzins, macaws, toucans, parakeets, parrots as well as monkeys, tapirs, ocelots, etc.

Canoe Riding

Explore the rivers and lakes on board a motorized or paddle-canoe! In the river, creeks, and lakes of the Amazon Rainforest, you will find hundreds of different aquatic animals such as fish, caimans, turtles, piranhas, and Amazon dolphins.

Birding

A plethora of bird species can be found in the Cuyabeno National Park, giving you the best bird watching experience, and an unforgettable adventure..

Siona community

Visits to the Siona Community include a cooking class where you will learn to make Casave a local dish made from yucca. Visit to the Shaman is also included.

Hikes

Our programs include easy and medium intensity walks and hikes in order to observe the wildlife and nature of the area; more difficult hikes and longer programs can be arranged.

Swimming

Swimming can take place in the Laguna Grande (Big Lake) close to the lodge.

Jamu Lodge – 3 days/2 nights – Discover the Amazon Jungle of Ecuador


Day 1: The Wonders of the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest


We welcome you to your Cuyabeno Amazon Rainforest Tour at our meeting point, La Casa de mi Abuelo Hotel in Lago Agrio, with a hearty Ecuadorian breakfast. For those who arrive by plane, we will greet you at the airport upon your arrival. From there the group will travel by van to the entrance of the Cuyabeno Reserve for a lovely canoe ride through the captivating Cuyabeno River to our Ecolodge. Guests will settle into their cabins and enjoy a fabulous lunch.

The afternoon will be spent discovering the Laguna Grande, one of the main attractions of Cuyabeno National Park. This paradise will allow you to swim with the pink dolphins and witness the most stunning sunsets. Day one concludes with a night jungle hike, dinner and enlightening talk with our naturalist guides about the animals and environment of our unique jungle ecosystem.


Day 2: Discover the Amazon Wildlife of Ecuador


Wake to a fascinating sunrise and the sounds of the jungle. Birds flying and chirping about our bungalows, tree frogs singing and the sound of wind gently flowing through the trees. Our exploration begins after breakfast, where we will trek upriver on the banks of the Cuyabeno River. Be on the lookout for infinite species of plants, enormous trees, aquatic vines, incredible orchids, medicinal herbs and a fantastic variety of wild animals and birds to the Ecuadorian Amazon.

After your jungle trek, you will be served a lovely lunch and then it’s time to relax for a bit in our Ecolodge. Relax on the hammocks and lounge chairs with a good book. After that we will go on a boat ride to Laguna Grande Lake where we will enjoy the sights of the surroundings and take a swim close of the gray and pink dolphins as they frolic in the water. Once you have enjoyed one of the most spectacular sunsets of your life, dinner awaits back at the lodge. The best is yet to come, with an exciting nighttime canoe ride on the river. Watch closely for the Amazon’s legendary black caimans as they hunt for their prey. The sights and mysterious sounds you hear after dark will occupy your senses and give you memories you will never forget.


Day 3: From Cuyabeno back to Civilization


An early morning boat ride to enjoy the sunset will enable us to watch the glorious Amazon birds at their most active time of day. The colors, sounds, and sights this morning are simply stunning. Breakfast will be served upon your return and then you will embark on a canoe ride up the Cuyabeno River and back to civilization. Transportation is provided from the entrance of the Cuyabeno National Park back to Lago Agrio.

Remember that all excursions and times on this sample itinerary are subject to change and largely depend on weather, season, group limitations, group interests, and guide decisions based on passenger safety and organized operations.

Jamu Lodge – 4 days/3 nights – Explore the Amazon Jungle of Ecuador


Day 1: Immerse in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve


After arriving at our meeting point in Lago Agrio, where we await you with a welcome breakfast to begin our trip to the Amazon rainforest. After this, the transport will pick you up, the same will happen with the people that arrive directly to the Airport of Lago Agrio to direct us towards the entrance to the Cuyabeno Reserve (Cuyabeno Bridge River)for an about 2 hours.

Lunch will be served and immediately we will start our exploration into the Amazon jungle of Ecuador by boat. In the canoe ride be ready to hear the sounds of the wildlife, while you watch the scenery changing along the Cuyabeno River waters and between trees. In this boat trip, you will be able to watch the birds, monkeys and other jungle creatures, accompanied by a guide who will provide information on how the animals and plant interact and balance the life within the Cuyabeno Ecosystem in which they coexist. Finally, arrive at the Ecolodge, we will settle in each of the cabins. After dinner, our native guide gives us a briefing introduction of the activities for the next days in Cuyabeno National Park.


Day 2: Explore the Ecuadorian Amazon Jungle


On the morning before breakfast, you can hear the noise of birds flying around our bungalows in the ecolodge. After breakfast, we continue upriver to start trekking on the banks of the Cuyabeno River, where you can see different species of plants, huge trees, aquatic vines, orchids, medicinal herbs and a large number of wild animals and birds of the Amazon jungle. After serving lunch, you will have time to swim and relax in Laguna Grande while watching the pink and grey dolphins play on the water. Once you have enjoyed one of the best sunsets of your life, we will return to the lodge for dinner. After dinner, you will embark on an exciting canoe ride where you will see the famous black caimans of the Amazon. During this journey, you will hear the mysterious noises of the forest. This is an experience you will never forget.


Day 3: Discover the legends of the Siona Community


Early in the morning, we will enjoy breakfast to travel by canoe to the Siona Indigenous Community, where we can interact and learn about their traditions, culture, and customs. In the same, we will learn to elaborate the Casabe a typical dish of this ancestral tribe. Lunch will serve in the Community and finally meet the Shaman, it will make us perceive and interact with their spiritual world, channeling their energies, visionary, healing and divinatory skills acquired over the years. As well as you will also have time to acquire the beautiful handicrafts made by the locals.


Day 4: From Cuyabeno back to Civilization


Early in the morning we will do birdwatching down the river, as well enjoy a completely fascinating sunrise. after that activity, we will serve breakfast and embark on a canoe ride on the Cuyabeno River back to civilization. Transportation will pick us up from the entrance of the Cuyabeno National Park towards Lago Agrio (meeting point) for later Continue with our usual trip in Ecuador.

Day 4: Paddling, Birdwatching & kayaking


A visit will be made in the surroundings of the Reserve for bird watching by traditional wood canoe of the Amazon jungle called “Quilla”. Canoeing is a quiet & peaceful activity, it provides excellent opportunities to observe birds and monkeys along the river banks, passing through different types of scenery. There is also an opportunity to go kayaking on the black waters of the Cuyabeno River. Later in the afternoon, we will go to Caimancocha Lake, during this excursion, you’ll be encouraged to swim and may encounter some of the river’s most majestic creatures: the pink dolphins.


Day 5: From Cuyabeno back to Civilization

Matrimonial Chalets

There are matrimonial chalets just a short walk from the main deck. These chalets are made of natural materials with an open plan design and have a large deck with slide away doors to take advantage of the beautiful Amazon jungle surroundings. A queen size bed and a suspended mosquito net give the chalet a romantic atmosphere in a natural setting. Each chalet has a private bathroom at the back with a beautiful view of giant trees and pristine forest.

Our triple chalets are comfortable with two separate beds; a queen size bed and a single bed located in the surrounding forest garden. Each of our triple chalets is built on stilts with thatched roofs and wooden decks. Each triple chalet in our lodge is accessible via a wooden ramp leading onto a covered wooden deck with comfortable hammocks. Each chalet has a private bathroom at the back with a beautiful view of giant trees and pristine forest.

How to Get to Cuyabeno from Quito

Depending on your individual travel needs you can get to Cuyabeno National Park in a variety of ways. Most people choose a scheduled flight to Lago Agrio (meeting point). Travelers can choose to take a night bus or a shuttle bus service.

BY PLANE – Tame Airlines offers daily scheduled flights from Quito to Lago Agrio, which departs at 9:10 AM or 4 PM and takes approximately 40 minutes. If you find any issues booking your tickets please contact us, we will help you as soon as possible.

BY CAR:- The bus trip from Quito to Lago Agrio (Nueva Loja) takes approximately 8 hours and the buses depart from Quitumbe bus terminal in the south of the city. If you don’t want to waste a full day traveling there is a lot of options for night buses that can be taken. Shuttle buses can also be taken from Quito to Lago Agrio, which can be found in the Mariscal area of the city. If you rather take the shuttle van service just contact us we can help you arrange your seat.
